Let's Tri

Two more races to report. Saturday Soren and Wyatt participated in a kids tri clinic and were able to complete a short race. Soren swam 100 yards, rode 9k and ran 1 mile. Wyatt swam 50 yards, rode 6k and ran 1/2 mile. They did great and had a lot of fun!

2nd Race:

Pete headed back to Denver to support his brother in his first sprint triathlon. He decided to race as well and even convinced his friend, Mike, to race. They all did amazingly well. Pete was 5th overall out of 574 men. His 500 yard swim was 8:19 and he ranked 20th; 12 mile bike in 33:47 (21.3 mph average) he ranked 8th and on the 5k run he averaged 6:05/mile for an 18:51 and ranked 5th. His total time was 1:02:40. He came home with a first place age group medal (cow bell) and a cool bag. Very cool!

Take it all off!

The "back to school chop". We are ready for school.
Supplies-check.
Shoes-check.
Clothes-check.
Backpack-check.
Lunch box-check.
Shots-check.

Today Reese chopped off her summer hair - her idea - for a back to school do. She is so excited. I think we have everything we need, and a few days to spare! We will run off for one more vacation to the lake house on Monday and then it will be time to buckle down and go back to school.

* Just an hour after this was posted I looked at Reese and noticed some little hairs sticking up on the front of her head. I looked closer and could tell that they had definately been cut.
"Reese! Did you cut your hair?"
A matter-of-factly "yes" response.
"Why?!"
"because it was hanging in my face."

Another Trip

Pete and I enjoyed an adult weekend in Denver with Danna and Trey. I was able to complete the Boulder 5430 Half Iron tri while we were there. Race report here: www.imcozumel.blogspot.com

Thank you, Mat and Kara, for letting the girls hang out while we enjoyed our time away! We owe you.

14

That is how many years I have been blessed to be married to Pete. It is funny to think back on how we met and married so quickly. God has had His hand on our relationship from the beginning and because of that we have enjoyed 14 years of growing and loving and learning. I am proud to say that we have not gone through the "tough times" that many couples go through. Pete's love and dedication to me and our girls makes for an amazing marriage experience. I know that we have only just begun and have many more exciting adventures ahead of us. I can't wait!

Two years ago I wrote about how we met and married...

Have Kids. Will Travel

Wednesday night I climbed into bed at 10:30 pm. Thursday morning (if you can call it that) I got up at 3:30 am and drove to College Station for Soren to swim the 200 IM at the Texas Age Group Swimmers Championships. The race was held at the Texas A&M Natatorium; wow, that was an incredible facility. It was neat for Soren to swim at the most prestigious meet in the state, even if she was so tired that her kicks did not even break the water :) She added quite a few seconds to her time from Lonestar, but had fun none the less.

one of their 4 pools

We were in College Station just long enough for Soren to swim one race and then we jumped back in the car and headed East to Destin, Florida! Nana, her friend Michelle, Kara and her kids were on the road and we met up with them about two hours outside of Florida and arrived at our hotel around 10 pm. Long day for me.

our first morning. heading out to check out the hotel and find the waves

i liked this one; i think she was getting used to the salt water in her mouth

could only round up these 4 at the time

this was a water fall over a cave that you swim through at our hotel

pops was there!

we did have some storms, but they did not chase us inside. if you are already wet, who cares about a little rain? the lightning was a little concerning at times, but we are still here

the crew minus kara and michelle at the snorkel beach

reese and ashton did not get out of the water the entire time. we were worried that they would dry up on the way home. they would walk out, ride a wave in, walk out, ride a wave in...
