Biking

In April, Pete and I headed down to Marble Falls, TX to train on the bike course that we would race on in a few short weeks.  Wow.  Yes, it is in deed the hill country!  110 brutal miles.  And after all of that, they changed the race course the week before the race.  Oh well.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

pit stop to refill water

Our workout for the day was 110 miles of riding followed by a 45 minute run.  We had the car parked on the side of the road near a church on the bike route.  After riding, we loaded the bikes back in the car and took off down the road for our run.  When we came back, the window in the car was broken.  It had slipped down into the door and would not come back up.  It was Sunday late afternoon and there was NO ONE around who could fix it.  Trash bags and duct tape it is.  Holy cow.  It was a LOUD 4 hour drive home!

The Lancaster bike rally.  April 2013

I love this picture.  I was riding in the Lancaster rally when this guy rides up next to me and comments on how small my bike is.  Yes, it is small, but HIS bike, oh my gosh, well, just look!  Makes mine look like a toy.

Bike shorts tan lines are awesome.  Not so much.

Spring Track 2013

Wow.  The girl can run.  Soren finished out her middle school running season by grabbing the gold in the 800 (2:32) and the 2400, silver in the 400 and 4 x 400 relay and 5th in long jump.

Sweet friends.  Some are runners and some are here just because they love their BFFs!

Pops and Nana drove down many, many times to support you.  You are very loved!

This poor girl.  She thought she had it.  This is you going for the gold in the last 100 yards of the 2400 - gut wrenching race - 1:18 final lap!  She cried.

For some reason, dad needs his goggles to help Soren with her homework :)

 We heart Pops

Dad decided for a few brief months to shave his head.  Dad can make anything look good.

Every spring we have at least 1 batch of baby bunnies.  Reese set up this protective cover over their hole and Pre stood guard.  So cute :)

Reese, at this age one of your most favorite things to do was experiment with hairstyles abd you always had me snap a picture.

Reese is 9!

Happy 9th Birthday Reese! February 21, 2013

Words cannot express the joy that you bring to our lives.  How can one person embody so many different and wonderful traits?!  You make being a parent so easy and so fun.  You are giving and kind, quiet and intelligent, talented physically and mentally and I love you with my whole heart.

3rd Time's the Charm....right?  Reese opts for earrings yet again.  Stay tuned to see if she sticks with it this time.

January 2013

I had to pass through Lewisville, so I drove past the old townhouse to show Soren where she lived for the first 5 years of her life...

The Flu was so bad this year!  Poor sweet Reese couldn't even sit up when I took her to the doctor.  She was very sick for a full 5 days and wanted me right by her side.  No surprise, I caught it next.  Being sick is no fun!

Chilling with Abby and Maddy

Reese, like her Dad, likes change.  Today it was the hair.  Blonde to brown.  I think it looks great!

Soren's 14th Birthday

Happy 14 to my sweet Soren!  I cannot say it enough - I am so proud of you and blessed beyond anything I could ever imagine to be your mother.  What a joy you are.  Everyone who spends time with you makes the same comment.  It is amazing how many complements I get from other adults about you!  And you have chosen a wonderful group of friends who seem to have the same values and friendly characteristics as you.  It was so much fun to see you play at the trampoline park on your birthday and your friends were a pleasure to have in our home.  I hope you had a great birthday and look forward to many, many more.  I love you!

Soren said she would not mind if Reese brought some friends along, too.  She is the sweetest big sister ever!
