Splash Bash

Splash Bash is one of our favorite traditions at NJE. It is a day of water games followed by dry land games, a cookout and tons of exhausting fun in the sun. It is such a great way to celebrate another awesome school year. This year Soren is in the 6th grade and they are not allowed to participate in the activities but instead are asked to run them! It was a neat day for Soren but also a lot of hard work!

Soren's Track Track Meet

Elementary school does not offer track here, but the 6th graders (the last year in elementary) gets to have one track meet at the end of the year where they compete against all other 6th graders in the district. Soren signed up for the 200 meter, 400 meter, long jump, 4 x 100 relay, high jump and tug-o-war. It was a fun day and Soren did very well. The events were not timed to encourage the kids to have fun and do their best, but Soren is well aware how she placed in her events. She is so excited to start cross country in the fall in Junior High! Thanks Pops and Nana for coming to watch and taking the great pics!

6th Grade Dance

This is a little out of order. I did not realize that the pictures from Soren's track meet were on a different computer, so that post will come when I get home. Soren went to her first dance! It went a lot better than we (the parents) anticipated. The DJ did such a great job of getting the kids out on the dance floor by having dance contests with some of the line dances that they all know, then he would play a few regular songs and the kids would keep dancing. There were no slow songs, so we didn't have to deal with that yet :) I was very impressed with all of the kids; there was nothing inappropriate and they seemed to have a lot of fun together. It is a good group of kids.

Main Street Arts Festival

I am not even going to bother with the excuses of why it has taken me so long to update. Just accept my apologies.

I am going to do things in separate posts because blogger will not let me move pictures around once they are uploaded and I didn't want them to be all mixed up.

We had such a great time at the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival last year that we made a point to go back this year and we even brought along the same two friends, Riley and Emily! Good times drawing and playing...

This year the festival was very green. This is a tree that was used as a decoration at the festival and was made with all recycled, um, trash :) The girls had fun making their trash ornaments.

These guys were an acrobat act. They were very talented but also added a lot of comedy to their routine. It was great.

I have 7 videos, but at this hotel (I am in Houston for Ironman!) the connection is too slow and will not upload any more than this one. I will add the rest when I get home.
