Short and Sweet

We are one more week closer to precious summer. School Easter parties are being planned, field trips are coming up and we had our swim team meeting to discuss the summer schedule. I can almost taste it.

Soren had an exciting weekend as she was able to go to her first lock-in. I was nervous about that because I know what I did at lock-ins! But this church is smart and had a '5th and 6th grade girls only' night. Perfect. Soren went to school from 8-3, swim team from 5-7, lock-in from 8pm to 6am, swim team from 6:30-8:30am and then went hiking with Pete, Reese and the dog. Where oh where do they get their energy?

Soren has finally used some of her saved up cash. She is not a spender and thought long and hard before deciding to purchase an itouch. She is super excited to start loading apps and playing games. We are heading to Canton with Grandma this weekend and Soren thinks she will be able to find a cool cover for it.

Drama class starts up again this week. Reese will be in the same class; it is the only one she can do until she turns 7. Soren will try a new class this semester, drama. She has done creative acting and show choir and loved both. This will be learning lines and doing short scenes from different plays. It will be fun to see what she likes best.

Dog Pics

Here are a couple of pictures we snapped of Pre and Cosmo over spring break. Cosmo has no idea that Pre is bigger than he is. Too cute.

Texas Day

Kindergarten is cool; they get to do such fun stuff. Poor kids have no idea that next year most of the fun stops and it's almost all work. This week they had "Texas Day". I'm not exactly sure why, but it was fun. It was basically a field day with the games renamed in a Texas theme. We were blessed with good weather (warm, but windy) and I got my first sun burn of the season! I love the first sun burn because that means that hot weather is on the way.

Spring Break

Not the most exciting of spring breaks, but any break from school where I get to have my girls home with me is all the excitement I need.

I have been painting like crazy. I started at my house with a bike room makeover and then tackled the stairs (think long and hard before you decide to paint the wall going up your stairs!). With Kara's help, both were a great success. Then I moved on to Charlotte's house where a massive remodeling is in full swing. The girls and I spent three days there where I got to help paint, wall paper, demolish and, of course, take trips around town on the cool golf cart. From there we journeyed to Kara's house where we painted the master bedroom, complete with 50 foot ceilings (that may be a slight exaggeration, but those walls are TALL) and about 500 windows (pretty sure that is the correct number) as well as the master bath. Whew. I had in mind to start on my master bedroom because I fell in love with a color that Charlotte and I painted in one of her bathrooms, but I think I will take a paint break for a while. Besides, the weather forecast for this week is AWESOME!

During all of this painting, the girls have enjoyed lots of cousin time as well as Grandma and Nana time. Thank you to everyone who hosted us during our spring break!

Now it is count down to summer. If the weather really does take a turn for the better then I may just make it after all. I was beginning to wonder these last two days while we have been battered with freezing temps and 50 mph winds.

A funny story: I had a dream that Pete and I were in Las Vegas and we were partying hard. When I woke up the next morning I looked down and across my entire chest was a giant tattoo of the Texas flag. That was a nightmare. In my dream I was crying and telling Pete that I would have to wear turtle necks for the rest of my life and my hair just does not look good when I wear a turtle neck. Man, I am glad that was just a dream!

cruising

Nothing exciting to report.

We are busy with the everyday activities that we love and can just taste Spring! Now that warmer weather is making its way back to us we will be outside non-stop.

Pete took Pre to the Burleson 5k run on Sunday and they took first place. Soren says that Pre crossed the line first :)

Hoping for great weather for our Spring Break next week. Kara and I are going to do some painting, so we need the kids to be OUTSIDE! They will have plenty of entertainment with the two new "puppies" (poor Cosmo, he has no idea what he has gotten himself into!).

Whirlwind Weekend

It was another one of our busy Underwood weekends. Friday I worked all day in Denton, went to packet pickup for The Cowtown to get Soren and I squared away for our races, went to swim team to pick up Soren's stuff for her swim meet, woke up at 5am Saturday, ran the Cowtown 50k while Soren ran the kids 5k and helped at an aid station with her swim team, came home and tried to recover my legs in my neighbor's freezing cold pool, packed up everything we would need for our full day of a swim meet and trip back to Denton to finish working, went to a neighborhood party!, got in bed at 11pm, did not sleep, got up at 5am to take Soren to Grapevine for a swim meet, left the meet at 12:30, ate lunch, stopped by my parents house to use their leg massager because, oh my gosh my legs were hurting!, passed out on the couch for 2 hours, got up, came up to the office and worked until 8:30, went to bed at 10:30 and now I am back at the office. Or my body is, anyway. Not sure if I can be considered completely here or not; kind of in a haze right now.

But it was all good fun! Soren had a great run with a pace of 7:10/mile...wow! That put her 7th in her age group of 11-12 year olds. She was also able to shave one more second off of each of her races at the swim meet on Sunday inching her way back up to the "A" swimmer rank. She was pretty tired when we went to lunch; I hope she is having a good Monday at school after such a weekend. I was able to stay here in Denton and avoid a crazy commute in the rain this morning, so I have not seen my sweet girls this morning.

My run went better than expected considering I did less than half of the training that Pete set up for me a few months ago when I signed up for this race. What can I say, I finished. Race report posted at www.trisara.blogspot.com

I am so bummed that I do not have pictures of Soren's run. Blame it on Pete since I was out on the course already :) and Pops was in his photography class.

Happy Monday.
