November 9-12 2013 Nana's 60th Birthday Trip!

Destin, Florida

Nana turned 60 in October and we wanted to surprise her with a special getaway.  November 9th Pops loaded her up and drove East.  Along the way she started to guess and finally realized they were headed to Florida.  They picked up Danna and Eric at the airport in Mobile; Pete, Mat, Kara and I drove together and we all met up in Destin.

On Saturday we rode bikes to Sea Side for lunch and some shopping.

Part of the surprise was a very early wake up call on Sunday morning to go run the Pensacola Half Marathon!  In the car by 4:30am.  Nothing says happy birthday better.

This was the most beautiful course I have ever seen!

Kara chats and runs :)

We all had matching shirts with various sayings printed on the back.  The other runners loved it!

Mat snags an orange from a tree on the course.  It smelled amazing!  So fresh.

stopping along the way for a picture with a random pelican

this was so gross that I had to take a picture :)

 what's a marathon without beer?

It was also Danna's birthday this weekend so we celebrated with her favorite...chocolate pie!

It is never a disappointment when we get together as a family and this trip was no exception.  What a wonderful time we had!  Happy Birthday, Nana!  You are a blessing to us all.
