Spring Break and the 1st Grade Musical

For Spring Break the girls and I joined Grandma in San Antonio for a trip to Sea World! It has been 10 years since I have been and I had forgotten what a neat place it is. We were able to spend all day Tuesday in the park and went back on Wednesday for a few hours before we had to head home. Thanks, Grandma, for such a great time!

Soren and Reese's cousins Jacob and Zach were able to come, too!

The First Grade Musical

Reese and the rest of her first grade friends entertained us last week with a musical. It was about taking care of the earth, recycling, etc. They did such a great job. Reese had a speaking part -check out the video at the bottom of this post.

**I just want to go on record that I have no idea why Reese does not have any shoes on at the musical. She was to dress as a normal kid for the play and she chose to wear what she wore to school that day - including her shoes! After the show I asked her why she took her shoes off before she came on stage, she just shrugged her shoulders and said "because I wanted to". Ok.

Soren's Latest Meet

Soren swam in the A Champs meet last weekend and got some new PRs. To be an A swimmer you have to qualify each year with faster times based on your age. After last weekend, Soren is set as an A swimmer until she is 15! She swam A times for the 15 year olds. I was so happy for her. She broke 1:00 on her 100 yard freestyle with a :59.33! It is so fun to watch her swim fast and have fun. It was a super long weekend since she qualified for finals each evening, but well worth it to see her achieve great things. Reese is 7!

Reese turned 7! Wow! But first, an update on another one of Soren's activities.

Soren’s ToT (Teams of Tomorrow) Performance

Soren was chosen to be on a team to do a half time performance at the high school basketball game. I have to say, I was impressed. I really didn’t know that she could do this!

Reese’s 7^th Birthday Celebrations

We began celebrating Reese’s 7^th birthday last weekend at Grandma’s house. Grandma baked a princess castle cake and had a piñata filled with candy and money! Score! Thanks for planning such a special surprise for Reese, Grandma!

On Friday Reese had a party with her friends and neighbors. She chose a gymnastics party and it was one of the most fun parties we have had! Lots of playing, running, jumping, spinning, eating…great combination!

Winter Fun

Reese swam her first swim meet! I forgot how adorable the 8 and under swim meets are! Those tiny kids racing through the water...it is so much fun. Reese kicked butt. She got 1st or 2nd place in all of her races except the 50 free. She got a big DQ on that one because she did not touch the wall when she flip turned. Way to go Reese!











A Texas Snow. Last week was a first for us. We had 57 degrees on Monday, followed by an ice storm on Tuesday, which is not unusual for Texas, but the kids have been out of school for an entire week now! Tuesday through Friday we were out because the roads were icy, but now we are out because the school flooded from a pipe that busted in the library. I say we call this school year a wash and skip to summer! We had a good snow on Friday that made for some outside fun...






Cousin Time. It warmed up enough this weekend to melt the ice off of the roads so we met the cousins at the skating rink. It was so nice to get out after being in the house for 5 days!
